Beads and Meanings

Each of these clay beads are handmade by Sarah making Clay Rosaries a truly unique gift.  Here I have written a short meaning for each bead listed.  It is my hope that when you pray with your clay rosary, the beads will come to mean different things to you and inspire you in many ways.

Each multi-bead rosary comes with almost every bead listed below.  Please look careful on the photos of individual rosaries to know the exact beads that are on the rosary.    A bead meaning pamphlet is included with every order of the multi-bead rosaries. Please note: My website and blog are not tutorials on bead making.  I only use the photos on bead making to show the creative process for customers and anyone interested to gain a deeper appreciation for the work that goes into each bead and for the uniqueness of my beads.

Rooster Bead

The rooster is a symbol of the Resurrection and vigilance.  To learn more about this bead and its meaning, click here.

Shamrock

Popular legend has it that St. Patrick used the shamrock to teach the Irish about the Trinity.  The leaves each represent one of the persons of the Trinity- Father, Son and Holy Spirit. There are three persons in one God.  To learn more about this bead, click here.

Compass Rose

 The compass is a symbol of our life here on earth as travelers to our heavenly home.  By using the Bible, Church and sacraments as a compass we are sure to be on the right path.  To learn more about this bead and it's meaning, click here.

Trinity Knot

This never ending knot with no beginning and no end is a symbol for the most Holy Trinity- three Persons in one God who is the Alpha and the Omega- the beginning and the end. Each side of the triangular knot symbolizes the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. One but three- it is a mystery.  To learn more about this bead and its meaning, click here.

Priest Symbol

The symbol shows the priest's stole- which is a symbol for the yoke of responsibility and the priest undertakes and the graces that flow from the sacrament. Intertwined in the stole, are St. Peter's "keys to the kingdom". Meaning priest have the power to preform all the sacraments including the forgiveness of sins and Holy Mass. Butterfly Bead

The butterfly is a symbol of Christ's resurrection and the transitory nature of our lives. The different stages a butterfly goes through is
1. The caterpillar represents our life on earth
2, The chrysalis or cocoon resembles the tomb or death.
3. The butterfly represents the resurrection into a glorious new life free of material restrictions- our life in Heaven.

Little Flower

Perfection consists in doing his will, in being that which he wants us to be."  St. Therese the Little Flower

The flower beads on the rosary symbolize the diversity of God's children.  St. Therese says we are all like flowers- some big, some small, some grand, some tiny, but we are all loved the same by our Heavenly Father who pours his grace on us the same -just as the sun shines on the flowers.

Jerusalem Cross

These five crosses, one large surrounded by four smaller crosses, is a symbol for the four Gospels- Mathew, Mark, Luke and John, with Jesus as their Center.  To learn more about this cross and its other meanings, click here.

Chi Rho

The Chi Rho is a symbol used for Christ that dates back to the second century.  The P over lapping the X are Greek Letters that symbolize the Greek name for Christ: ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ.  The X is also seen as a symbol for the Cross and Crucifixion.  The wreath around the the Chi Rho is a symbol of the victory of the Resurrection.  The Crucifixion and Resurrection are inseparable in this symbol as both are needed for our salvation.  To learn more about this bead and its meaning, click here.

Confirmation Motif

This is my original design for the sacrament of Confirmation. The dove, heart and three dots above the dove, are part of the motif and symbolize, the Holy Spirit, love and The Trinitarian God.  The red is a symbol of fire and the Sacrament of Confirmation.  To learn more about how this bead was made, click here.

Dove Bead

Queen of Heaven

Mary is the Queen of Heaven and earth.

Divine Mercy Jesus

A symbol of Divine Mercy Jesus.  The sun is a symbol for the Son of God. The pink and blue rays symbolize the blood and water flowing from Jesus who desires to pour on us mercy, love and forgiveness. 

Confirmation

Wheat Bead

Immaculate Heart of Mary
