About The Artist
Hi! My name is Sarah Harkins. I am a stay at home mom who has combined two loves: my love of Mary and my love of bead making. I have been making clay rosaries for 15 years. I am a born crafter, and have done a lot of different arts and crafts over the years, but I when I discovered polymer clay, it was love at first sight. There is just so much you can do with this amazing clay- like recreate beautiful symbols of the Catholic faith!
Making the intricate detail on the beads has been a skill that I've developed over many years. My first beads were not pretty! 15 years later, I still enjoy the challenge of creating a new design and seeing what it will look like when it's a 10th of the size I started out with.
When I started making rosaries, I was 15 years old, and not that interested in a rosary devotion. I made my first rosary for my mother because I knew she'd be thrilled with it. When she showed it to her friends, they wanted one too and then their friends wanted one, and so on, until I eventually made a business out of it. Along the way, I have met so many inspirational people who have lead me to a deeper understanding and love for my faith. I think it was appropriate that I made my first rosary for my mother, because now all the rosaries I make are for Mary, my Mother in Heaven. I have come to grow in my faith and my devotion to Mary through rosary making and the people that I've encountered because of my work. I believe this is what God wants me to do and I hope that I am spreading the Gospel through my work.
